Jodi Ellen Malpas – Author Review

Author Review

Jodi Ellen Malpas born and raised in the Midlands exploded on to the self publishing scene in October 2012 with ‘This Man’, after just two months she left her day job at her father’s construction business to concentrate on her writing career. January 2013 saw the second slice in the trilogy ‘Beneath This Man’ and the third ‘This Man Confessed’ in July 2013, all of which have held #1 chart position in their genre on Amazon UK.

Jodi Ellen Malpas where do I even begin, so many words have been used to describe Mrs Malpas ‘extraordinary’, ‘remarkable’, ‘outstanding’……..all of them are fitting and so worthy her writing is truly beautiful. The trilogy follows the exploits of a handsome lord of the manor Jesse Ward and a young interior designer Ava O’Shea brought in to work on the property. When I was pointed in the direction the first of what I can only describe as the epic ‘This Man’ trilogy, I was completely blown away within the first few pages. I read the first book in one day and the same with the second, then the wait for the third drove me to distraction but my god it was worth the wait.

Having brought ‘This Man Confessed’ the day it came out, I was nearly two weeks before I began reading it. Completely ridiculous I know, the five month wait meant my mind was constantly occupied with ‘The Lord’ and a lot of re-reading during that time. Why did I wait? It’s like I needed to be in the right frame of mind to start. Finally starting I continued my scale of delirium reading a few pages a day taking me nearly three weeks to complete the book. Seeing as I can easily read a book in a day (life permitting of course), I lingered for as long as my sanity would allow. I just didn’t want it to end.

All books come with amazing playlists definitely worth adding to the collect and have a good read.

Let the trampling commence……………

Excerpt from This Man
Big Guy, or John as I now know him, moves to the side, giving me my first glimpse of Mr Jesse Ward.
Oh good God. My heart crashes against my breastbone and my nervous breathing rockets to dangerous levels. I suddenly feel light-headed, and my mouth is ignoring my brain’s instruction to say something.
I just stand there staring at this man, while he stares back at me. His husky voice halted me in my tracks, but the sight of him…the sight of him has just turned me into a non-responsive, quivering wreck.
He rises from his chair and my gaze travels up with him. He’s very tall. His white shirt is casually rolled at the sleeves, but he still wears a black tie, loosely knotted and hanging down the front of a broad chest.

Collide by Gail McHugh Book Review

Following her mother’s death Emily Copper moves to New York after graduating.

She has her boyfriend Dillon Parker, who has helped her through the grief and is waiting for her in New York.

Even hiding his own secrets he knows he cannot live without her by his side, smart, sexy and thoughtful he is everything Emily wanted in a man.

Then there’s Gavin Blake, a rich, sexy, charming notorious playboy. While recovering from his own painful past, he does all that he can to stop Emily from denying their connection and will stop at nothing to win her over.

Emily is forced to question all she has known and make decisions that will break hearts and shatter friendships……

This is definitely not your standard romantic story; it is so much more emotional.

Both POVS’s are portrayed in such a unique way I could not put the book down, sleep was not an option I needed more. Emily’s indecisiveness became an overbearing annoyance but I did eventually warm to her.

She is clearly not weak willed and has had to go through so much in such a short space of time.

Her relationship with Dillon is a controlling one and there are parts you will find yourself able to relate too. Dillon Dillon Dillon arghh…….. You can not help needing to know more about him and just what it is that makes him tick which will feel a little warped but so essential. Gavin will pull all your emotions right out there in a very short space of time. He is by no means perfect but even his crazy actions make sense, this at one point had me questioning what was wrong with me lol.

This book is so well written you do get completely lost in it.
I love and hate cliff hangers in the same breathe, this cliff hanger had me screaming at the book and laughing at the same time already rushed with excitement for the next book, clearly laughing and shouting at 3 am is not the best thing to be doing but completely unavoidable.

Listed as New York Times Bestseller is a completely worthy title to have for this book, it’s truly beautiful and wonderfully written, graphic enough to jump start your imagination……..….anxiously awaiting ‘Pulse’ 10th August 2013.

A……maz….ing! I heard good reviews about this book and got as a special on amazon, worth every single penny. The book starts with a really good play list to follow the book. When I’m reading alone I do tend to have music on aswell, its something I’ve always done. But to have a play list before you start reading was brilliant. Armed with my music and new book I was up till the early hours unable to put this book down until I was finished. Beautifully written, passion and pain jumping right off the page a gripping your heart. Both characters will have you squirming in your seat, just amazing!

‘I want to play you a thousand different songs so you get a clue of what….. I feel inside me…’

Dont miss out on this great read buy Real and you will get to enjoy this great story like I did.

The Case of the Missing boyfriend by Nick Alexander

Book Review

CC has a high powered job in advertising, a wild bunch of gay friends for plenty of weekend entertainment and a lovely flat. She wants nothing more than the man of her dreams and a farm in the middle of no where and a blissful life. Are horrors of her past preventing her from moving on…….

I’m not sure where to begin with this book. As I do with all books I have high hopes and look forward to enjoying the story and the great feeling that comes with not wanting to put it down. However, that feeling never came. 12 pages in and I wondered if maybe I was being a bit premature and persisted to read on waiting to be captured………..78 pages in and I was slowly losing the will to live. It got to the point where I wanted to nothing more than throw my kindle but this would only depressed me further. Further on and I thought ‘yes!’ its about to get good, then it fell to nothingness yet again. It never seems to get going, we just jump from chapter to chapter with CC’s very annoying character and equally cliché situations , even the brief moments of good in the book are over shadowed by boredom.

Previously listed as the #1 kindle book on Amazon

Why not try one of the other great books reviewed on the site that im sure you will enjoy such as Thoughtless

This Man (This Man Trilogy) By Jodi Ellen Malpas Review

The first book in the ‘This Man’ Trilogy from Jodi Ellen Malpas. Coming out of a long term relationship Interior Designer Ava O’Shea, is thrown in to the world of the conceited, devastatingly handsome, playboy that is Jessie Ward. As owner of ‘The Manor’ Jessie has a consultation booked with Ava for her to do the design work for the extension. Immediately Ava is faced with inability to control the  overwhelming effects of Jessie.

The Man is very well written, as frustrating as Ava’s character is with her lack of decisions and inability to speak up, the chemistry is literally jumping off the pages. Jessie’s character is surprisingly addictive, you just want to know more about him, even when he’s being knowingly ridiculous. I got so caught up in the book I read it in one day sacrificing sleep for the need to finish the book. Thank goodness the second book was available to me straight away which was also finished in record time, I’m now left enduring the torturous wait for the third book. Come on Jodi Ellen Malpas we need more……

‘You should know that once I’ve had you, you’re mine’

As a self published book ‘This Man’ is only available on kindle. The paperbacks will be available in the near future.

Thoughtless is the first book in the S. C. Stephens Trilogy. First we meet Kiera Allen the self doubting beauty whose about to do more growing up than she knew she had to. Embarking on a new journey with Denny Harris her dreamy aussie boyfriend to Seattle in pursuit of his career, and taking on her own challenge of a top university.

It’s not until their first night in Seattle that Kiera meets Kellan Kyle, D-Bag front man and all round rock god, Denny’s long-standing friend and new room-mate. Straight away Kiera is faced with the full on beauty and depth that is Kellan Kyle, on stage bringing all the women in the crowd to their knees with his voice and body. He engages his soul into his words and locks eyes with Kiera…….

Kellan Kyle and his charismatic character makes me want to *roll my eyes* and say whatever……….that lasts all of three seconds, he pulls you into his talent energy and pain all in the same breath.  Kiera’s innocence is laid out from the beginning, It’s all mapped out for her and Denny. Her character made me want slap her around a bit, In aid of making her get a grip. She lacks the ability to make a decision she will stick too.  Pain, struggle the difference between want and need………everything she is you grow to love her.

Passionately written, betrayal will never be a comfortable subject. Thoughtless……is exactly what you will be reading this book, you will lose yourself. You’ll feel the heat right off the page and be sweep along for the journey, you’ll feel it all, I dare you to try to put it down.

“Thoughtless, I placed my free hand upon his cheek and wiped a tear away with my thumb. Instantly I knew it was a mistake…….”
